North Wales Running Company

Run Big, Shop Small

Owner: Scott Tantino

  • 111 North Main St. North Wales, Pennsylvania 19454 / (215) 699-4282

North Wales Running Company has become more than a store for the local community it serves – it’s become a protector of parks in Eastern PA, a communal meet-up for runners in the area, and a warm and welcoming place for anyone to address movement needs.

Store owner, Scott Tantino first opened the doors to the main street shop 10 years ago, a place for local runners who previously had to drive out of town to be properly fit for and purchase their next pair of shoes. Soon after, he realized that the store was bigger than group runs or a new PR time. Scott and his team focused on helping people of all ages and walks of life move better, starting with what they were wearing on their feet.

Aside from focusing on footwear, the North Wales Running Company also focuses on the town in which they’re in. Many of the store employees and frequent customers sign on to volunteer with the Wissahickon Valley Watershed Association (, maintaining trails and sponsoring races along the US National Natural landmark.

People are fans of the store brand, sporting North Wales Running Co. and All Kinds of Fast shirts to many events. Many student athletes have walked through these doors and Scott’s got the letters to prove it.At North Wales it’s OK to celebrate with a sweet treat.Whatever the season this store has your apparel needs covered.A historic city, for a noteworthy store. North Wales Strong.Saucony’s Run Pop collection added some summer fun to the store.
Tantino, who also lives alongside the trail, said ‘It’s been great because we started working with WVWA as soon as the store opened. As we’ve grown so has the opportunity for staff and club runners to share in maintenance and preservation of the trail, so even more people can enjoy it. It’s bigger than the store, it’s about the people of the town coming together to get outside and enjoy the beauty of this area, we’re happy to be a part of that.’

People have responded and as the park preservation movement has grown, so has the store. North Wales Running Co. now has a second store called All Kinds of Fast in Phoenixville, PA.

Both stores are continuing to service customers near in far, with some people driving over an hour to soak up the atmosphere of this original North Wales gem.

"It’s been a real honor working with everyone that comes through these doors. We have people that move away and whenever they are back in town will stop by and visit the shop. We’re not just an athletic store anymore, we’re also a family. We want to continue to help people move and get outside. Whatever form that may be. Myself and the staff, we’re dedicated to being more than a footwear store, we’re a people store that serves the customer, and the community." - Scott Tantino
