Run Your World Cities Munich

Saucony Run Your World is about ‘the best’. The best places in a city to run, eat and sleep. We invite a handful of people and use local knowledge to guide us and inspire us. Of course we have a good time too. As they say, Go Out - Work Out - Hang Out.

If you like 3:30am alarms you were in for a treat on this trip. Run Your World (RYW) cities visited Munich this week (that’s one whole week before OctoberFest starts in case you were wondering) and we arrived early on the day too. After a series of delays 2 weeks ago getting to Saucony RYW Cities Rotterdam we made sure we arrived early. Which felt good.

A lunch was followed by a running tour of the Olympic Park. Built for the 1972 Olympics this is a great, and if you wish, hilly place to run. Hills are rewarded with outstanding views of the city including the park itself and further on to the BMW Headquarters (shaped like a 4 cylinder engine), the Allianz Stadium (home of Bayern Munich) and, just about, the Alps. Our private 3-wheeled snack van was ready and waiting before we cycled back to the hotel (Hotel Ruby Lilly).

Best places also means best places to eat. We ate at the Electric Elephant. This restaurant has a simple square design, with a high ceiling and an industrial feel. I loved it. Their Indian food is outstanding (chicken mango curry by the way is my recommendation) and I would definitely go back.

Day 2 started with a cycle ride to yoga at 7:00am. The Downward Dog was swiftly done and we returned to the hotel for breakfast. Our hire bikes clocked some decent mileage as we followed a plan taking in Old St. Peter, Viktualien Market, The English Gardens and Eisbach Wave, which was like a treadmill for surfers in the heart of the city.

That’s it. We left Munich, it’s gorgeous sunshine and 27 degree C temperatures to head back home. Thanks, we really enjoyed seeing you.
